It was 2005, and the designer Patricia Urquiola sand: “I wanted to take a new look at capitonné and Chesterfield styles, with a special reinterpretation of the 1960s and 1970s, which I love”. Tufty-Time modernizes the capitonné and chesterfield styles with a free and casual lifestyle mirrored by highly versatile layouts. The system finds practical answers to the themes of modularity, comfort, and removable covers by forming the various elements that create traditional linear sofas, corner sofas, peninsula-shaped compositions, and island elements, allowing 360-degree seating. The upholstery in fabric or leather is subdivided into large squares joined by pleats perforated in the leather version.

Tufty Time starts with an ottoman as the essential piece, which is then accompanied by central, corner, and terminal elements with a low or high armrest. The elements are used to invent traditional sofas, sofas with chaise longue, corner sofas, and island elements that provide a 360° seating solution. In its more accentuated depth, Tufty–Time becomes a meeting place, a welcoming refuge where people can relax.

Hence the creation of one of the Company's most successful items. The past does not merely inspire it but, instead, offers an excellent solution for themes such as modular elements, comfort, and removable covers, which have been solved with an innovative spirit.
