Flos Smithfield is ceiling and pendant lights with a flat, curved shade and a clear, simple design. They spread the light directly downwards and are therefore, perfect for dining table lighting. Smithfield was designed in 2009 by the British designer Jasper Morrison for the Italian lighting company Flos. The lamp follows Morrison's principle of developing functional objects with a timelessly elegant shape.
The inspiration and namesake was the famous London Smithfield market or the traditional lighting of this place. So the Flos Smithfield is based on industrial design principles: a metallic shade, direct light, and a convincing clarity in design. At the same time, one notices the modern design due to the gently rounded shapes.
Subtle colors and a diffuser ensuring glare-free light make Smithfield an excellent lamp for private and public spaces. Optionally for conventional halogen lamps or with integrated LEDs that provide warm white light and excellent color rendering.
Available in mat black and white.
