The Cab 412 stands as the defining piece of the Cassina Cab collection, designed by Mario Bellini in 1977. The Cab chair is renowned as the first chair to feature a freestanding leather structure. Bellini designed it to function like a bespoke suit, featuring a tubular steel frame covered in meticulously hand-stitched individual panels of saddle leather, carefully assembled with visible seams zipped into place around the legs. Bellini’s disciplined form is softened into something warm, tactile, and undeniably inviting.
