In Pittsburgh’s historic Northside, a former industrial building has been reborn as cutting-edge loft living. The residence strikes a rare balance—channeling the raw energy of a gallery while sustaining the warmth of a home.

Double-height ceilings and exposed blackened steel beams frame the open plan, with the geometry being softened by natural light and a curated art collection.

Furnishings act as extensions of the architecture. Two B&B Italia Charles lounges face a sculptural glass-top table, offset by a citrine Metropolitan chair and ottoman. Across the hearth, a Cassina Met sectional grounds the room, paired with a Charlotte Perriand table and zebra-upholstered Tank Chairs by Alto Avalar.

The dining area features Alvar Aalto’s Table 86 with upholstered B&B Italia chairs, while the kitchen’s 12-foot island is lined with Vitra barstools. Upstairs, the bedroom continues the curated aesthetic with Cassina Maralunga chairs and a Le Corbusier lounge.

Industrial yet refined, contemporary yet timeless—this Northside loft is a lived-in masterpiece of architecture, furniture, and art.
